This beautiful novel follows Matthew through his strange and twisted childhood memories as he writes his own story. Written in the first person throughout, it allows you to understand mental health and grief in a way that is surprisingly easy to read and understand.

The entire focus of the book is on Matthew, and it is so detailed that I felt as though I knew him personally. I absolutely loved his description of everything, and despite the dark undertones to the story, I couldn't believe how entertaining it was. I loved the use of repetition within the book, just enough to understand what the key concepts were to Matthew's life.
I finished this book within two days because it was just so beautifully written that I seriously could not put it down. This is the kind of book that you will want to share with your friends immediately after reading.
I'm not usually someone that goes for a 'dark' themed book whatsoever - in fact this book was chosen for my book club. However, I couldn't have enjoyed it more. It was utterly beautiful and I would recommend it to any mature readers.
I'm keeping this review quite brief because I don't want to give too much away, but it is definitely worth the read.
I'd give this book 8.5/10.
