Slumps

alexanderanoushka

Recently, my motivation has taken a massive hit. I am sure lots of students will relate to me when I say that this time of year, despite all the deadlines, is when your drive to work plummets. Perfect timing, isn't it!

I also think that it's normal, and maybe we shouldn't get so stressed out about it. It wouldn't be sustainable to be at your 100% constantly. Ups and downs are natural.

Whether you're going through a breakup, a bad spell of mental wellbeing, or any other kind of mental anguish, it can make working seem impossible. Your problems have a way of consuming you, and it's not fun!

I don't know if I have the answer, but I think sometimes we need to allow our 'slump' to wash over us, and accept that we will come out of it. We need to have lows in order to have highs.

I think the best way to slowly get yourself back to where you were is to just slowly pick away at it. For me, establishing a nice morning and evening routine helps me feel like I've got my life together, and hopefully my motivation will come back. It really is a waiting game, and there is no way of rushing. Trying to force yourself to do a million tasks in a day will only further put you down, so maybe just set yourself smaller tasks, and I find that this helps me get back on track.

Overall, I think just take it one day at a time if this does apply to you. You are capable, so trust in yourself!
